The misspelled honour-board plaque that gave Rasalan its name

The offending plaque. Still on the wall. Still misspelled.

Where it all began

Where it all began

The name Rasalan came from an spelling mistake.

At The Australian Hotel in The Rocks there's a wall of beer passport plaques. One for every regular who worked their way through 113 beers from around the country. When John finally finished his, the engraver got the name wrong. Instead of Rasaku, the plaque read Rasalan.

The pub eventually made a correct one. Both are still on the wall — the original and the amended version, sitting side by side. Permanent proof that the first version isn't always the right one.

Unbeknown to John, his fellow founders had already registered the original name for their future business, long before it launched in 2025. It seemed fitting that business built on the belief that a landlord's opening proposal can always be challenged would be named after a corrected spelling error too.

Our mission

We believe industrial tenants deserve fair and independent advice, no matter the size or scale of their business.

That’s why we’re on a mission to empower tenants with the knowledge and evidence they need to negotiate a fair outcome.

How we operate

Every engagement starts with a conversation about where you are in the lease cycle and what outcome matters most.

From there we work in stages: gathering the evidence, building a position, and advising at every step. We'll calibrate the scope to what your situation actually requires. We find out what the evidence supports, present it clearly, and escalate only if we need to. Throughout the process you won't need to chase us, as we keep you across every development, never stopping until the right outcome is achieved.

After every engagement we sit down with our clients to understand what worked, what could have been better, and whether the outcome matched what they came to us for. That discipline has shaped everything about how we work: the way we present evidence, how we structure our advice, and what we put in front of a landlord before we ever produce a formal report. Simple, dependable, and built entirely around your interests — that's the standard we hold ourselves to.

Our Values

Every decision we make about how we operate, who we work for and how we charge comes back to these four principles.

Our Values

Every decision we make about how we operate, who we work for and how we charge comes back to these four principles.

Right by people, for the right reasons

We built this business for the people that needed it most. People who landlords have taken advantage of for too long.

When you work with us, you can be confident that we’ll act with the transparency, integrity and accountability to do right by you and your business. Because all businesses deserve someone genuinely in their corner.

Unconventionally Conventional

The status quo has never interested us. Because the status quo hasn’t worked for tenants. We draw on our decades of experience in valuations, construction, data and property economics to operate a business model that delivers outcomes, not norms.

Independent by design.

We've never done market rent reviews for landlords, and we never will. Working exclusively for tenants allows us to advocate for

their interests free from any competing commercial pressure.

Our business model, with outcomes directly tied to our fee, ensures that our interests are directly aligned with the interests of our clients at all times.

You can count on us

We do what we say, every time.

We stay proactive, keeping you informed at every stage of the process. Our communication keeps you across every update and offers strategic advice on every counteroffer along the way.

Our service arms you with the evidence and market knowledge you need to feel confident in your position as we leave no stone unturned in our quest to get you the best outcome possible.

John spent more than a decade valuing industrial properties for landlords at major valuation firms. It was here he saw began to see tenants accept proposals the evidence didn't support, because the valuers who could have helped them were already working for the other side.

As the firm's only qualified valuer, John handles every market rent review engagement from first contact through to final outcome — bringing sixteen years of industrial property expertise to bear, exclusively for the tenant.

Cam spent years in commercial construction and building supervision before joining Rasalan. That background gives the firm a depth of understanding about industrial facilities — how they're built, what they cost to run, and what genuinely distinguishes one from another that pure property valuers don't have.

As Rasalan grows, Cam also oversees the operational side of the business, leaving John to focus on what he does best.
